This is a song that doesn’t play too much during the game, but always brings bad news when it does. Like most of the ‘remasterings’ I’ve done, this stays true to the original, but I think it sounds quite a bit better.

One of my favorite pieces of music from Super Mario Wold is the song that plays during the castle. While I’d love to re-orchestrate this piece in the future to a different style, I wanted to get it up to date with better instruments.
It is one of the more complicated pieces in the game, with some wild chord progressions towards the end. As I played around with different ways to bring out the song’s character, I decided a rock style would suit it best.

A few years back, for no reason that I can remember, I got the theme song for Super Mario world stuck in my head. However, it wasn’t -exactly- the theme song. It was more of a slow, dark version that was more acoustic.
It didn’t take too long to notate it, and recently I decided to add better instruments to the music to make it sound better.
This was the first game I ever owned, and one of my favorites even today. It will also be the first game that my children will play someday
