Consequences Of Peace

 This is a piece I worked on a few years ago and completed in one sitting (unlike most of my work). It is a dark, moody piece of music that was written at a point in my life when I felt like I should have been at ‘peace’, but because I had so little going on it felt miserable. Looking back on it, I feel like I should have appreciated the time a bit more. This type of style was characteristic of a lot of my music post-high school. I tend not to follow a particular style. I just write what comes to mind as I go. Hopefully it works for other people :D

In the midst of playing Final Fantasy 7, I was struck by a tragedy I wasn’t expecting. Thankfully for me, I had quite a bit of free time at that point in my life, and I spent the next couple of days writing a piano piece as a response to it. It isn’t based too much on the original “Aeris Theme” from the game, although I may have unconsciously drawn on it.
